YouthADAPT challenge (African Youth Adaptation Solutions Challenge)

The YouthADAPT (African Youth Adaptation Solutions) challenge is now open.

Jointly organised by The Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) and the African Development Bank (AfDB).

Both GCA and AfDB use their complementary expertise, resources and networks to develop and implement approaches to accelerate climate adaptation action under the Africa Adaptation Acceleration Program (AAAP).

Therefore, they are extending this call to young entrepreneurs across Africa.

Eligible enterprises stand a chance to be awarded a business grant of up to $100,000 each.

In addition, they have the opportunity to further scale their businesses through 12-month business support, mentorship, and acceleration program.

YouthADAPT challenge how to apply – Eligibility criteria

  • Applicants must be young entrepreneurs aged between the ages of 18 and 35 years.
  • Enterprises must be delivering climate adaptation or resilience solutions addressing real-life challenges.
  • Legally registered and operating in Africa.
  • Able to show revenues for at least two years.
  • *50% of the enterprises supported will be women-owned or women-led.

These are areas on the application form that would need careful consideration. The following are the information you need to provide for the YouthADAPT challenge:

Details about your business

  • This can include but should not be limited to what your business does and your product / service offering.
  • Useful details such as service delivery channels.
  • Your role and the milestones your business has achieved (will be a plus).

Contribution towards climate adaptation and resilience

An explanation of how your business or solution contributes towards climate adaptation and resilience.

Problem or need

An explanation of the problem or need your business or solution solve for your target customers/users.

Annual revenues for the last two years in US Dollars

Technical specifications of your product/service (if applicable).

How many customers did you have in the last 12 months?

The African Youth Adaptation Solutions Challenge (YouthADAPT) Information Session

The African Youth Adaptation Solutions Challenge (YouthADAPT) Information Session will take place on Monday 20th September 2021.

The information session will be hosted virtually via a webinar at 12pm GMT.
